What would we do if a giant asteroid is heading towards earth?

This is a hypothetical question, however there is a probability for it to happen.

In the events of a giant asteroid heading straight towards earth, what can we do

- As individual nations?

- As humans facing the same danger?

What if this asteroid :

1- Has a diameter of 1 KM

2- Has a diameter of 10 KM

3- Has a diameter of 100 KM

And what if :

1- We saw it on a collision trajectory and predicted we have 10 years before impact.

2- We didn't think it was coming towards us, then the asteroid suddenly changed corse, and we have a few days before impact

What would we do to survive this? is it even possible?

There are some things that we can actually do here. Obviously the more warning time we have, the more options we have to deal with it.

There are some deflection techniques that we can use, ranging from using a large spacecraft's gravity to pull the asteroid off course, to nuclear detonations, to sending up a kinetic impactor to slam into it
